How to get to Kulmbach?Hide

Kulmbach is not located in close proximity to a major airport. For international travel, we recommend flying into Nuremburg, Munich or Frankfurt Airport and continuing the journey by train, as described below. Visit www.bahn.de for booking trains. Some buffer time is always useful, as German trains are prone to delays.

Nuremberg Airport (NUE) is a smaller international airport with daily connections to most European travel hubs, like London, Amsterdam Schiphol, or Paris Charles de Gaulle. From the airport, take the connecting subway (U2) to Nuremburg main station. Regional trains to Kulmbach run every hour; some connections will require you to change trains in either Bayreuth, Lichtenfels or Bamberg. This journey will take approx. two hours.

Munich Airport (MUC) is a bigger airport with daily flights to many European cities and major international travel hubs. From the airport, take a local train (S-Bahn) to Munich main train station and continue via fast and local trains to Kulmbach. The journey from this airport to Kulmbach takes approx. four hours.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is the biggest airport in Germany with daily flights to all continents and metropoles in the world. The high-speed trains run directly from the airport, but you will need to change to a regional train in Würzburg. The journey to Kulmbach will take about four hours, with additional changes in Bamberg, Nuremberg and/ or Bayreuth.

We recommend staying in the Taste Hotel in Kulmbach, where the workshop will take place. After confirmation of your participation you will recieve the keyword for the reserved rooms, which will cost 79€ per night.

There are other, smaller Hotels in Kulmbach as well. Many are within walking distance of our main venue. However walking will be the main form of transport in Kulmbach, as the local bus and taxi services are  limited. Please also note that June is a popular month for travelling in Germany, so hotels may be fully booked and room rates are likely to be more expensive than during other times of the year.
